I feel so honored to work in the field of midwifery and with the Rose midwives. I fell in love with this calling while watching Mesa Midwives in Grand Junction support women in labor during my labor and delivery rotation in nursing school in 1993. I couldn't imagine more fulfilling work than to help new life come into the world. After five years of labor and delivery nursing experience, I decided to pursue my master's degree in nursing, specializing in midwifery. I received my degree in August 2001. After graduation, I worked for the People's Clinic in Boulder, Colorado and then founded a private practice called Boulder Nurse Midwives, where I worked for 7 years. I strive to support women to have the birth they choose for themselves, and I see my role to be partly that of a teacher. I like spending time giving women and their families good information in order to empower them to be their own decision-makers, and I support the choices that women decide are best for themselves and their families. The skills acquired in making good decisions serves families throughout their lives as parents. I enjoy seeing women return to our practice for annual exams, where we provide well-woman care and family planning. I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey through pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum and your well-woman life! On a personal note, I have two boys of my own who I immensely enjoy mothering. I strive to be outside, and I also love cooking and exercising. I learn a great deal from my patients and always work on creating a healthy balance in life!
